From the producer:

Domaine Huet was founded in 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston. The Domaine now boasts thirty hectares of Chenin planted across three plots: La Haut-Lieu, Le Mont, and Clos du Bourg. The estate was one of the pioneers of biodynamic cultivation in French vineyards. This cultivation method, which respects the soil, the plant, and the environment, allows us to develop the character of our wines and preserve the authenticity of the terroirs.

A biodynamically certified estate, the work in the vineyard is guided by the different rhythms of the planets, in the more or less conscious manner of the winegrowers of past centuries.

The Vouvray appellation’s grape variety is composed of a single varietal, Chenin which at Domaine Huet is poetically called ‘Plan du Clair de Lune’ or ‘The Vine Of The Moonlight’. While it is often produced in Vouvray as a sparkling wine, it is a grape variety that can also wonderfully reflect the terroirs and vintages in still wines. Known for their natural acidity and captivating aromatic palette, Chenin wines evolve slowly, acquiring finesse and subtlety.

Clos du Bourg—For many insiders, the argument over Vouvray’s greatest vineyard comes down to two sites: Le Mont and Clos du Bourg. This Clos, acquired in 1953, a meditative place par excellence, is one of the oldest Vouvray vineyards. Located above the church of Vouvray and surrounded by an ancient stone wall dating from the 9th century, this six-hectare plot is one of the appellation’s premier crus. Its shallow soil is composed of clay and limestone and rests on a tuffeau subsoil. The wines of Clos du Bourg are deep and dense. Designed for aging, they also prove to be excellent wines for immediate enjoyment.
