The Bibi Graetz winery was founded in 2000 on the hill of Fiesole, overlooking Florence, where Bibi, who grew up in a family of artists, felt completely love with wine and made it his life. Bibi Graetz had no formal wine training, nor does he follow any DOC or DOCG regulations. Neither one of these factors has detracted from his reputation as one of Italy’s most talented and interesting winemakers.
In 2019 Graetz purchased the Hotel Villa Aurora and adjacent Blu Bar in Fiesole, just outside Florence. He converted the hotel to a winery facility for the production and aging of his most prestigious Super Tuscan releases, Testamatta and Coloré. The hotel was later refurbished as a family home for Bibi and his family.
Testamatta – ‘crazy-head in Italian – is the best word to describe Bibi Graetz: a positive, creative and passionate person. Testamatta wine expresses the purity, minerality and transparency of Sangiovese from old vines on the top of the hills characterized by soils rich of stones. A Supertuscan made with 100% Sangiovese, result of the combination of tradition and creativity.
