A tiny producer from the hills of Valpolicella. Nicola Ferrari, formerly an assistant to Giuseppe Quintarelli (arguably the most esteemed valpolicella producer) now works alongside his wife to produce wines from their small organically farmed 3ha site in Fumane. Whilst the production may be small, the wines are truly phenomenal.
This is the second top wine in their portfolio, and it is truly a medal well deserved. This wine is large, brooding, with a sense of nobility. Baking spices, leather, and bitter red fruit combine astutely on the palate. Before giving way to the delicious savoury balsamic notes that Amarone is known for. At 16% this isn’t a wine for the faint hearted, however it is a wine that perfectly embodies what Amarone should be.
